Discipleship

Discipleship

Somewhere along the line the Church un-learned discipleship, seeming to forget that Jesus calls us to be disciples, not merely Christians. For far too long, far too many congregational members think "they've arrived" when they make their profession of faith and stop pursuing not only what it means to be a Christian . . . but how to live as a disciple.

Flipping a church depends very much upon the spiritual maturity of the congregation's members and their ability to live their faith 24-7-365. Discipleship embraces Christian Education but adds the important dynamics of support and encouragement. Discipleship also takes for granted that not everyone in our congregation is a Christian and provides a variety of avenues that help people move from being not-yet-Christians, to Christians, to disciples, to being missionaries and ministers in their own rights.

In the fall of 2010, FlipMyChurch.com will launch DiscipleDevelopment.com, a site being developed to offer monthly training videos for your Christian Education, small group, and discipleship leaders, weekday motivotionals, blogs, resources, and more so that your congregation can move beyond mere Christian ed to developing disciples who are equipped, empowered, and encouraged to better one-another, reach others, and worship.
